A Whole lot of Christmas Spirit

Hey y'all! I just got to say that this week was awesome! The first great thing that happened is that we found another golden investigator. That makes it two right now that are progressing well. It has been a blessing because this area is super tough. Last Friday we had our ward party. It kinda stunk.. It wasn't planned very well so the people were bored.. A ton of people came but left right after they served the food.. haha and they had music to dance to but no one was dancing. I just wanted to let it all out and liven up the party but you know the missionary rules... So I just suffered and watched. I have been trying to get into the Christmas spirit lately. I have some Christmas socks that I have been wearing every day... Everyone thinks that I have problems... They just don't understand... I found some egg nog the other day, super expensive but I bought it for Christmas day.

I think that this Christmas is going to be a lot better than last years just because I am used to how everything is. Yesterday we had our Christmas conference with all of the zones. It was awesome because it was the first time that I have eaten real smoked ham in my whole time out. I got to see lots of friends that I haven't seen for a long time. Our zone had to do a Christmas skit in front of all of the other zones. Everyone chose me to be the main person because like I said earlier, everyone thinks that I have problems... but it was awesome.
We made a few people laugh. I just am not the acting type.. President Douglas and his wife gave great talks on giving and Christmas. It was just a super awesome and spiritual day. Today we got to go play paintball. I went HAM and killed lots of people. I really think that I have the coolest mission in the whole world.
Well Christmas is in a week, I hope that all of you can get into the Christmas spirit of giving. That is Christmas is all about, giving more than receiving. I love you all so much and hope that you have great times with your
families.

December 10, 2014 "He is the Gift"

December 3, 2014

Well what is up?! This week was a super crazy one. We did lots of fun little things haha. On Friday we went to the place that we eat every day to learn how they cook. I'm not so much of a cooker but I would love to learn how to at least make some Dominican style food. The ladies that work there are like our little old grandmas haha, full of so much love. That same day the son of a member passed away from cancer. They called us and told us to go to the funeral home. There I was told that I would be sharing a message.... I didn't know what to
do because I had to speak in front of a crowd of full on catholic about something.. I chose to share our beliefs about the plan of salvation. I felt so calm sharing the message and could tell that lots of them were interested in what I was saying. Then the next day we celebrated the birthday of Rodcilian, one of our converts. We just sang and ate cake it was fun!
On Sunday we had a pretty rough day. We had invited lots of people to come to church but in the end of it all no one came.. It hurt.. That night my comp and I made something called quesillo. It is this egg cake that is sooo good! Transfers were today but I will be staying in my area for one more transfer. Haha we played a prank on some of the members telling them that we both were getting transfers. It was pretty sad.. haha but something that they will never forget hahah. Well that was pretty much my week. We are working hard and slowly seeing things progress. I love my mission and everything about it. I love you all so much!

Happy Thanksgiving

Hello.... I heard that there is snow in Utah... jealous.. haha no but this week was pretty chill. There are always some days when you get feeling down because of things that happen in the mission but the only thing that you can do is just keep swimming. Its hard when people make promises to you and then break them. You have no idea how many times that happens on the mission. Its like the people are to scared to say no so they just say yes knowing that they won’t do it. That's how you know that you have a great investigator. If they do the things that you ask, they are interested.  It has been hard for my comp and I to get help from the ward. We only have 4 families in our area and they are always busy. It’s tough sometimes.

Well something awesome happened this past week. One day we were leaving one of our lessons. We were walking past a house that we have walked passed a thousand times but have never seen the people who live there. As I was walking by I saw a woman in the front yard. I just said hello and kept on walking. As we kept on going I just had the strongest impression to go talk to her. We were in the next lesson and the only thing that I could think about was why I felt like this. After that lesson I told my comp that we have to go to that house and talk to them. We got there and found an older lady out front. We just started talking to her about chikinguya.. then she let us in after talking for a little. We walked in the house where we met the lady that I had seen before. We sat down and just started talking. After talking awhile we found out that one of her sons had passed away a month ago. When I heard that its like the spirit completed something in my heart. I knew that we were led there to teach the plan of salvation. I felt so blessed to have been influenced be the spirit that way. We shared with them a few days later and they are showing great interest.

On Monday we had a little B day party for my comp with Brenda and her family. It was a good week. I love my mission and all of the hard times it had. Its the hard thinks that make you stronger. I love you all and wish you a happy thanksgiving!

No Shave November

Well how is everything in Utah?? Freezing?? Haha well its quite the opposite down here, its as hot as ever... But I hope that you all had a great week. First of all I want to say happy birthday to Lauren I cant believe that you are going to be 16. I hope that you have a special day tomorrow!
My week was pretty good. The best thing about the DR are the people, they are crazy but I love them. In every area that I have served in, there is always a family that takes us in as their own children. They feed us when we are hungry, hake care of us when we are sick and just give us so much love.

It was super weird for me, someone told me that I only have 9 months left. I haven't been paying attention to the time that I have left but when I heard that I was shocked. Nine months is how much time that I served in Nagua. It just gives me more motivation to work harder.

The sisters in my district are working machines... I am amazed at their dedication. The ward is helping them a ton which is awesome. The best thing happened this week, we had an activity in the church, a movie night. We watched Frozen and it was the best movie ever! We had lots of people show up so it was super fun!Today we got to go to Tamboril to play sports. It was so nice to go back and see Jeffery, one of my converts. That is what will make going home hard, saying goodbye to all of my family here.

Well I can't really explain how it happened, but somehow I forgot to shave and grew a lil mustache. I just had to take a no shave November pic. I know you can hardly see the hairs but this is crazy long for me... Don't judge..
I know that I say this a lot but I love my mission and everything about it. It his hard sometimes but in the end. it is amazing. ¨The path to Heaven runs through miles of clouded Hell¨ - Imaging Dragons. I love and miss you all and hope that you are all ready to gain a few pounds next week!

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas...

Well this week was a pretty chill one. Things are still going good in my area. Its tough sometimes but I love the members in my area. Everyone is starting to set up for Christmas.  Its nothing like it is in the states. They usually just buy one strand of lights and put it around the window.. I was super excited to find a tree set up in one of our less actives house. They don't have thanksgiving here so pretty much after Halloween they are ready for Christmas.... which is ironic because they don't really celebrate Christmas ether...

Well I got some awesome news that Brenda, my convert, is going to be called as President of the single adults! haha Just three weeks after her baptism! She is so strong, I love it!

This week we had a conference with all of the zones in Santiago. There were 120 missionaries in the same spot. It was fun for me to see some of my friends that I haven't seen for awhile. The sister missionaries in my district are awesome! They are such hard workers and are really helping the ward get excited about missionary work. On Monday I went on splits with one of my zone leaders in my zone. We were walking to one of our appointments later that night. I saw my gangster friends and went up to say hi to them. Then all of the sudden like three girls came out. They started freaking out about how we were Americans. I shook one of their hands and she wouldn't let go... I was like this is awkward.. Then she asked if we had girlfriends, then my zone leader told them that we were married and made up fake names... haha the thing is that it happens all of the time to any American... its sad to see how lost some people are in the world. People work all day and in the night, drink it all away.... But that is why the gospel is a blessing. It makes us free from all of the bad things in the world. Well there isn't a whole lot more going on. The mission is going by fast. I just hope that I am doing everything that I can to live up to my calling. I love you all so much!

Come Unto Christ

This week was a pretty fun one. Lots of weird things went down... Well last week we started giving English classes in the church. The teacher is a member in the ward. I go to help him out. It is sad... My English is terrible.. I am forgetting lots of things. It is also pretty hard for me to talk to someone that is learning English. I cant talk to them with my Utahan accent. I have to talk more formal, so I sound like a weeny when I talk..

Also last week we went to this referral's  house. We walked in and the first thing he did was sit us down, grab his flute and try to play a hymn song... He tried to play Angels we have heard on high..... It sounded like Squidwards clarinet.... Haha so awkward.

It has been raining super hard down here. For the first time in my mission I felt the temp. at like 60 degrees. Everyone was dying... haha I loved it though. My comp and I also had a little bonding time together. We made a cake the other day. Although we didn't have everything we needed we improvised pretty well, and in the end it turned out pretty good.

We also had a cool experience on Saturday with the international service day. We went to like an addiction recovery home. It was cool to talk to these guys who are trying to change their lives. I have seen a lot of them out in the street selling things, but I didn't know why they were doing it. Being out in the city selling things helps them talk to new people and helps their communication skills.

Last Sunday was a wonderful day. The Polanco family, our newer converts all got up and bore their testimony. I got up right after them and bore my testimony of why I am here on the mission. My purpose is to invite people and their families to come unto Christ. The spirit was so strong. There are so many wonderful things that happen on the mission. I have been so blessed to have been able to meet so many people down here. I love you all so much and feel the blessings from your prayers every day.

October 29, 2014. I am now Twenty Years Old!!

Whaaaat up?? Well I'm 20... Yeah, I know its an ugly number...  Thank you all for the B Day wishes. My b day was pretty great. I got the best gift I could have ever asked for a day early.  First off, the family that I baptized two months ago went to the temple for the first time to do baptisms for their family members who have past on. They loved it! Second, our golden investigator and one of my great friends that I have made in the mish, was baptized. It was one of the best days of my mission. I was feeling really stressed before the baptism because I just wanted to make it special for her. And it was. First of all her parents came which was awesome. I remember when I first met them they didn't even want to look at me because of what they have heard about ¨Los Mormones¨... But know I am pretty sure that Everlin, Brenda's mom, loves me more than Brenda.. Haha it has been so sweet to see them change. Then we had a family in the ward sing with a guitar, it was amazingly beautiful. Then she was baptized..  Something that she told me she would never do. It was a very spiritual experience for all of us. It is a day that I will never forget.

Then Sunday was the day. I had only told like four people and by the time we got to church I felt like the whole world knew.. Something that I didn't really want.. But it was a good day. We had a little party that night. Things have been going good in my new district. The sisters are working super hard which is great. It has been raining like crazy which I love! Overall this week has been really awesome I have felt the love from all of you and felt the best joy that a mission can give you. I am so lucky to be here serving these people. I hope that you all have a wonderful Halloween, something that they don't really have here... haha. I love you all so much!

 Birthday Treats?

Wednesday, October 22, 2014

My Birthday is October 26th!

What up world?! Well transfers were today. I got a new companion whose name is Elder Santana. He is Dominican so things should be pretty fun with him. Also they put two sisters in my district. I am guessing that things will be chiller with them. This week I had to say goodbye to two amazing missionaries that ended their mission. I love seeing a missionary end their mission going hard. These two were such good examples to me when I was just a lil youngin in the mission. Sister Navas was my mom when I started in Nagua up until now. And Elder Saucedo was one of my Zone Leaders who was always there to help us. I hope that I can be t like them when I  end the mish. Well I am super excited for this Saturday! Brenda is going to get baptized!! She has been the perfect golden investigator for us. She is going to be such a good member and example to everyone. My comp, Elder Simonis was pretty sad to leave this area. It was his first one, so it was special for him. We spent the whole day yesterday visiting everyone in the ward. He is a great missionary who just wants to do his best. I also have some cool news, I think that I have a few new friends in my belly..... Don't worry mom I'm not going to die...

Well I have been thinking a lot about the mission this week. I really am so grateful to be here. Even though there are times when it gets kind of tough I just think about how awesome my mission has been. I have met so many amazing people and have done lots of cool and fun things. The mission is one of the greatest blessings that I have received. I am grateful for the time that I have left to try to do and be better as a person. I have learned so many wonderful things that I would have never learned else ware. I love my savior Jesus Christ. I am grateful to be a part of the true church. I love my family and friends and want them to be with me forever! Thank you all for everything!

Paint Balling October 15, 2014

Well this week was a goodie. First of all my eye is a whole lot better. It got super big last week and then came to a head and you know the rest... They still just think that it was a bug bite.. but who really knows.

Well like I have been saying in my other letters, we have been contacting a ton because we don't have many investigators. Its also pretty tough to contact because we have a small area. But this week was a pretty good one. We found a few people that seem like they have lots of potential so we will see what happens. Well it looks like we will be having a baptism next Saturday! I am soo stoked
because I know that after this girl gets baptized, she will be a strong member for the rest of her life. It really is amazing to see people change.

This Pday was so fun. We went paint balling with four of the other zones in Santiago. Haha I felt like I was normal for a little bit. Its weird being a missionary and shooting people with a gun that hurts a lot. I felt bad and good at the same time. I wanted to kill them all and get them all out but at the same time I don't want to hurt anyone. I feel like I am changing into a girl.. haha no but it was super fun.

Today we had to say our goodbyes to all of the missionaries that are going home this transfer. Well transfers are next week and I am pretty sure that my comp is leaving. I hope that I get a good one! Also in my district they are changing the Elders with Sisters. So I hope that things will go good. Soooo yeah... that's pretty much it. I know that this is the lords work and am so lucky to be able to be here. I love you all so much!
