Trials

February 11, 2015
Well this week has been a testimony builder, and a time for me to see really how much I have changed. In Santiago everyone is setting up for the Carnival. I hope that I am here to see it. I have heard that it gets super crazy.
Honestly, my comp and I really didn't do that much this week. We had to stay in for three days because he was "sick". He just had a few cavities...  I have felt that this was one of the harder weeks of my mission. It was just killing me not working or doing anything. I tried to keep myself busy reading church books but I just wanted to go out and visit with some people. Haha Its funny because when you are in school being sick and staying home is like the best thing ever, but in the mission it is the complete opposite... It is the worst thing ever...
Also, one of the days that we went to the dentists I lost my wallet.. Luckily it didn't have anything important in it, just money.. I just hope that person that found it was in need of a few extra pesos. But that's the thing about the mission, it is the hard parts of it that teaches you the most. I have learned a lot about myself but still have a lot of other things to learn.  It is sad to me knowing that my time in Hato Mayor is coming to an end. There are lots of good people who have shown me how to be a better person. It's weird to think that I only have 6 months left.. I am 75% done.. Only 25% left to give everything that I have. I just want to do my best to serve the Lord. I know that what I am doing is right!
Well I know its not much but I just want to say that I love you all!

A Super Awesome Week

Hello world. well I just have to say that I hope that you all enjoyed watching the super bowl... Haha it was just a normal Sunday night for me.. But I have to say that I had a super awesome week! Well first of all, on Thursday we deep cleaned our house, the Dominican way.. they just get a hose and spray all of the walls and floor with water and then put Landry detergent on it as soap.. it was interesting..
Saturday was one of the best days ever! My comp and I went to the TEMPLE!! It was so awesome! Right when I got there all of these memories flooded my mind from when I was a noob in the mission at the MTC. We got to go because one of my comps investigators was getting endowed.
The other day we were stopping by the office to do something. While we were there the nurse trapped us in and made us get flu shots.. I was hiding from her for 30 minutes.. Then when she found me she sat me down. I asked the nurse if I could call my mom to comfort me when she gave me the shot.. haha She said that if I really wanted to I could... haha I didn't but I had her wrap a gauze pad over my eyes to help me not look at the shots. I was screaming and freaking out and all of the missionaries in the office came over to see what was going on... She did it and I didn't feel a thing.... I still hate needles more than anything in the world...
Yesterday we got to go back to one of my old areas because there was a homecoming of a member there. It was great to see everyone again. We had to spend the night in another house last night. When we got home this morning we found out that our house had flooded because we left a sink on and the drain was broken.. there was like 2 inches of water everywhere... haha but it
was a great week. The mission has always been a hard thing, but looking back on all of the things that I have done and learned, it makes is all worth it. I love life and I love everyone of you!

Learning From Change

What up peeps? How is everything going in the 801?? Well everything here in the 809 is great! This week was a pretty good one for me. One of the hardest things for me and for lots of people to deal with in life, is change. So if I had to describe the mission in 3 words, it would be lots of changes.. First of all is the huge change of lifestyle that happens when you enter the mission. Then you get used to your comp and your area, and then what happens?? Another change... haha sometimes it is easier and sometimes it is harder. By now I can say that I am a whole lot more used to changes than I was before. The latest change I have had was my comp. I have learned that change isn't always bad. Sometimes it is good for us to have things change in life we will always learn something from it. Well that's enough about change.
Things with my new comp are going good. We have been doing soo much contacting lately.. But is is great to talk to and find new people. This last Friday the sisters had a baptism of a little girl and I got to baptize her. Things are pretty fun in the mission right now. We have lots of zone activities that are helping to work progress a lot in out areas. It is awesome. We have been doing lots of service projects as a zone and also as a mission. I think that the president and his wife have seen how much service helps in missionary work. We are called to serve haha. But anyways every time we do something there is this super good feeling that comes after.. It is one of the best feelings that you can experience. The mission is a blessing. It has changed me into a better person and continues to do so every day. I love you all so much and send you all a air hug!

Captain Morgan Jan 15, 2015

What up everyone! Well this was the last week of the transfer and a pretty good one. We worked super hard as a zone. One day the whole zone came to my area to help us find less active members and new
investigators. The next day in the morning we went to another area to give out hot chocolate and contact people.  Dominicans LOVE free things so right when we put up the stand the whole town was gathered around. We met lots of interesting people.. there was this old guy named Joe from Canada who was trippin on acid or something. I told him that my name was Elder Morgan then he told me that I am from England and that I am related to Captain Morgan. It was awesome though because we really contacted lots of people.
On Saturday we went to Elder Henriquezs area because one of my investigators got baptized. It was to awesome to see how much he had changed and how happy he was. it was a great week Well my comp left today to go get surgery on his knee. My new companions name is Elder Alvares from Honduras. He is a super funny dude. I am just super happy right now because I am super pumped to work hard this transfer. I know that this is like super short but I gots to go.. I love you all so much!

RIP Bryce Astle

Well this sucks... Right now my heart goes out to the Astle family, It is such a bummer to see someone with so much going for him in life, and to see how fast it can all end. Bryce was a great friend of mine, who I knew since elementary school. It is a very sad week for the ski world, because we have lost one of our own local legends. At least he passed on doing the thing he loved. RIP brother.
Well how was every ones new years? Mine was pretty stinky... haha all we did was teach until 9 and then went home to sleep. I was just up chillin in my house cleaning some things and then heard some fireworks exploding outside. haha I didnt even get to do a countdown...
On Saturday I got to go back to one of my old areas to help contact and visit some less actives. It was so awesome to see the people that I was teaching about 6 months ago. I was so happy to see them and they were super happy to see me. On Sunday we had a BBQ with a less active couple who are just the coolest. I felt like I was back home in the mountains when we were roasting some marshmallows.
Transfers are next week, but I know that I will be staying in my area for at least one more transfer because my comp has to go home to get a knee surgery. So am just so ready to go crazy this next transfer and work super hard. I only have 7 months left to serve the lord with all of my heart might mind and
soul. I am so grateful to be here and for every blessing that I have received in my life. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ changes lives. I love you all soo much!

December 31, 2015 Happy New Year!!!

Well this week was pretty chill. It is weird because everyone here is on ¨Winter Break¨ so it is actually super hard for us to find and teach people. Its like we will be contacting people and we ask when we can pass by later in the week and they tell us that they wont be available until the 8th of January... Its because they are way too busy partying... haha but thats the DR.. It was super awesome being able to talk to the fam, although it was super weird seeing how much everyone has changed physically... I just love family! Well I got to talk this Sunday. It turned out to be a good talk with the fact that I had 5 min to prepare for it. But I chose to talk about the family and the simple things that we can do to keep our relationship strong and have strong testimonies on the church. it felt great because after there were lots of members thanking me for talking about that subject. Other than that My week has been normal. We have an investigator who is progressing very well. I think that she well be baptized in the future but I probably wont be here.Well its the time for making all of our new goals for this coming year. Honestly the best goal that I have found to have on the mission and also one of the hardest is to have the goal to achieve your goals... Plain and simple. haha  Well this is my short update of the week. I hope that all of you have a wonderful new year! I love you all so much!
